Cara Menjawab Pertanyaan Bentuk Question Responses dalam Soal Listening Ujian Nasional (UN) Bahasa Inggris SMK

Dalam soal UN Bahasa Inggris SMK pada listening section, ada empat bentuk bagian dalam listening section yang terdiri dari Gambar (Pictures), Tanya- Jawab ( Question - responses), Percakapan pendek ( Short Conversation), dan Pembicaraan/ pidato pendek ( Short Talks). Dari keempat bentuk tipe tersebut mempunyai ciri dan juga bentuk yang berbeda pula. Dan pada pembahasan kali ini kami akan mengupas mengenai salah satu bagian dalam soal listening yaitu pada bagian kedua tentang Question- Responses (tanya- jawab). Bentuk tes ini biasanya muncul pada soal Ujian Nasional pada soal nomor 4 sampai 7. Dalam bagian tes ini, anda akan mendengar dua pembicara. Pembicara yang pertama akan bertanya, kemudian anda akan mendengar 3 kemungkinan jawaban dan diminta untuk memilih pernyataan yang paling tepat. 
Sebelum anda mempraktikan cara menjawabnya, berikut terlebih dahulu akan kami sampaikan beberapa tips untuk menjawab pertanyaan Question Responses dalam soal listening.
A. Memahami tipe pertanyaan ( Understanding types of questions- responses)
Untuk dapat memahami tanya- jawab ( question- response), anda perlu memahami pola bentuk pertanyaan ; Yes/ No Questions, Statements dan Wh- and How questions.
1. Statement
Statement merupakan pernyataan pendek yang digunakan dalam memberikan saran, masukan, pengumuman, permintaan, ataupun kalimat seru,
Contoh :
Statement : My manager is very busy at the moment.
Answer    : You should make an appointment first.
Statement : The government will raise the gas price.
Answer    : It will make Rp. 8.500,- per liter.

2. Yes/ No Questions
Yes/ No Questions yaitu pertanyaan yang jawabannya Ya ( Yes) atau Tidak ( No) atau ungkapan singkat yang sudah pasti jawabannya misalnya sure, of course ( tentu), maybe ( mungkin) atau tidak tentu ( not sure)
Contoh :

• Is it going to rain? perhaps.
• Is Mr. Andra your manager? Yes, of course.
• Is the meeting cancelled? I don't know.

3. W-H Questions,
W-H Questions yaitu pertanyaan yang dimulai dengan Wh- Words atau How. Pertanyaan ini biasanya menanyakan subjek atau non subjek.
a. Subject Questions, pertanyaan yang jawabannya berupa subjek
Contoh :

• How many delegates will attend the conference? One hundred and fifty.
• What happened? The car hit the tree.
• Who is the director? Mr. Juanda.
• Who sent this letter? My friend.

b. Wh-/ How Questions
Contoh :

• When will the plane arrive? At four according to the schedule.
• Which sofa do you prefer? The one on the left.
• How far is the museum from here? It's about ten minutes walk.

B. Skop Tanya - Jawab ( Scope Questions- Responses)
Dalam soal Ujian Nasional Bahasa Inggris SMK, skop pertanyaan listening section untuk Questions- Responses terdiri dari :

• suggestion and advice
• preference
• invitation
• asking about location and direction
• guests/ telephone handling
• daily conversation
• dan sebagainya.

Dan berikut contoh pertanyaan tentang question- responses dalam soal listening section. Semua percakapan antara dua pembicara tidak akan dicetak dalam soal Ujian Nasional.

Woman : Why don't you come with us to the concert?
Man   : (A) I like watching concert
               (B) Yes, you'll join us soon
(C) Sorry I can't. Maybe next time.
Sample answer

Respon yang tepat untuk pertanyaan diatas adalah C (Sorry I can't. Maybe next time)

	Response	(A) I enjoy public speaking classes (B) I'm speaking English slowly (C) That's a good idea
3	Question	I am having problem in learning English. What should I do?
	Response	(A) If I were you, I've signed a foreign English course (B) Learning English is not a big problem for me (C) I have studied English for the examination
4	Question	Would you like to come over for dinner tonight?
	Response	(A) I'd love to. Thanks (B) Yes. The show is over (C) We had TV dinner last night.
5	Question	All like this. Do you accept a credit card?
	Response	(A) The guarantee card is in the box (B) Sorry. we don't give a credit card (C) Certainly. You just need a sign
6	Question	Do you play basketball?
	Response	(A) Yes, I bring the wastebasket. (B) The game was already over (C) Actually, swimming is my sport
7	Question	What do you prefer to get a job or continue studying?
	Response	(A) you can work after studying (B) I prefer working if possible (C) Yes, I would go to university
8	Question	I think, English is interesting, isn't it?
	Response	(A) Yes, I always attend interesting lesson (B) No, my teacher doesn't speak English at all (C) Yes, I really like it.
9	Question	How hungry are you?
	Response	(A) Not very. I have lunch (B) I have never been to Hungary (C) I am thirty years old
10	Question	Ms. Ann, is it? How do you do?
	Response	(A) It's my mistake (B) I'm a lawyer (C) How do you do?

Jawaban :
1.(A) a kilo of sugar, please
2.(C) That's a good idea
3.(A) If I were you, I've signed a foreign English course
4.(A) I'd love to. Thanks
5.(C) Certainly. You just need a sign
6.(C) Actually, swimming is my sport
7.(B) I prefer working if possible
8.(C) Yes, I really like it.
